<div><strong>Speaker:</strong> Brandon J O&#39;Brien, author of The Strategically Small Church</div>
<div>Rev. O&#39;Brien is a former editor of Leadership Journal and and a doctoral student in Christian history at Trinity Evangelical Seminary.&nbsp;</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Brandon defines a &quot;small church&quot; as one that averages less than 500 in worship attendance. The content will apply directly to most ABCNW church contexts. In his own words he explains: &quot;A &#39;strategically small&#39; church is one that has learned to recognize and leverage the inherent strengths of being small. Being strategically small means that instead of trying to overcome your congregation&#39;s size, you have learned to use it to strategic ministry advantage.&quot;</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Check out <a href="http://www.edstetzer.com/2010/08/leadership-book-interview-the.html" target="_blank">Ed Stetzer&#39;s enlightening interview with Brandon 0&#39;Brien&nbsp;</a></div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>Brandon O&#39;Brien is convinced that smaller churches have unique advantages over mega-churches and it&#39;s important to maximize them. Some of these advantages include: the opportunity for personal engagement, efficient church budgets, and focused lay leadership development. This and more topics will be explored during the training event.</div>

<p><strong>The ABC of the Northwest Biennial Celebration offers a special opportunity for the churches of ABC Northwest to celebrate what God is doing in our churches and our life together. Worship, inspiration, training, and warm fellowship will be the focus. We are expecting the Lord to give us fresh hearts for a new time of ministry challenge as we seek Him together. Our keynote speaker, Efrem Smith, will inspires us while providing practical insight for pursuing our vision of “growing healthy, mission-focused churches that multiply disciples.”</strong></p>
<p><strong>The schedule has been compacted for the purpose of making this Biennial a high-energy, high-impact event at a reduced cost. (Good news in this economy, right?) The gathering starts early on Friday morning, May 14 and concludes at noon on Saturday, May 15th. For those arriving in town on Thursday afternoon there will be a complimentary barbecue dinner on Thursday evening followed a prayer service for the Biennial.</strong></p>
